What people ask before booking.
Taken from real W6 and Chiswick enquiries. If yours is not here, the quote form has a notes box and we do read it.
Removals questions, answered
Do you move mansion flats?
A great deal of our W6 work is exactly that. The red-brick mansion blocks around Brook Green and the riverside have their own rules: a porter who needs telling, a lift installed long before anyone owned a three-seater sofa, and a service stair that is often the real route. We ask which block and, where we do not already know it, we look before quoting.
How do you deal with the gyratory and the A4?
By timing around it. The Broadway and the flyover turn a fifteen-minute crossing of W6 into something considerably longer at the wrong hour, and a loaded vehicle sitting in it is time you are paying for. We plan arrival and departure windows around the traffic rather than pretending it is not there.
Can you arrange parking?
Where the street has suspendable bays, yes — we apply to the council on your behalf. Hammersmith and Fulham is permit-controlled throughout and enforcement is active, so this matters. Where no suspension is available we plan a shuttle from the nearest legal point and price that honestly rather than discovering it on the morning.
Do you do office moves?
Yes, and W6 generates a lot of them — the media and commercial core behind the Broadway, studios, and the smaller offices along the river. Office moves run on different constraints from homes: out-of-hours access, building management, lift bookings and IT that has to work on Monday.
Do you cover Chiswick?
Regularly — it is across the bridge and a natural part of our patch. Chiswick moves have their own character: bigger houses, more period property, and the W4 grid where parking is contested in a different way from W6. See removals in Chiswick.
Do you cover Fulham and SW6?
Not as our core. Fulham, Parsons Green, Fulham Broadway and Sands End are covered by a separate firm in this network that works the southern half of the borough properly. We take W6 and the river. Ask us and we will point you at them rather than stretch.
What about Shepherd's Bush?
There is a dedicated Shepherd's Bush firm in the network, and for W12 you will be better served there. We are on the Hammersmith side of the boundary. It is a five-minute difference on a map and a real difference in who knows your street.
Do you handle pianos?
Uprights, yes, with the right kit and enough people. Grand pianos and anything coming down an external stair or through a window we look at first and tell you honestly whether it is a job for us or for a piano specialist. We would rather lose the booking than damage an instrument.
Do you remove asbestos?
No. Asbestos removal needs a separate licence and specific containment, and anyone in the removals trade who agrees to it casually should be avoided. It turns up in older west London garages, floor tiles and ceiling coatings. If you find any, stop and get a licensed asbestos contractor; we will clear everything around it afterwards.
What happens if the lift is out of service?
We plan for it. Wherever there is a lift we still ask about the stair route as a fallback and crew accordingly, so a broken lift on the day is an inconvenience rather than a cancelled move. In older mansion blocks it is common enough to be worth assuming.
Do you protect communal areas?
Always. Mansion blocks and converted houses have managing agents and residents who notice, and communal damage is where disputes start. Floors boarded, bannisters padded, lift interiors covered, before anything is carried.
Can you store things between moves?
Yes — containerised and inventoried in and out. West London chains slip like anywhere else, and the gap between completion and keys is common enough that we plan for it rather than treating it as an emergency.
Do you pack?
Full, part, or just the fragile end of it. In period properties we would generally recommend at least letting us do the glass, mirrors and pictures — those are what get damaged, and they are what people underestimate.
Are our things insured?
Goods in transit and liability cover are in place, with limits and the claims process set out in the booking contract. Declare anything genuinely high-value — art, instruments, antiques — at enquiry so it is listed properly rather than assumed under a general limit.
How far ahead should we book?
Earlier than most people do. Month-ends are busy everywhere in London because tenancies turn over, and summer goes first. If your completion date is fixed, get in touch well ahead of it.
Do you move out of London?
Regularly. A good share of W6 and Chiswick moves are people leaving for Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire or further. Same service, longer drive, and the loading order planned around the unload at the far end.
