House removals in Hammersmith.
Period terraces around Brook Green and Ravenscourt Park, family houses on the Chiswick side, and the streets in between. Older houses reward planning and punish haste.
A W6 house move is rarely about distance. Most are within a mile or two — a terrace off Brook Green to something larger in Ravenscourt Park, or across the bridge into Chiswick. The work sits almost entirely at the two ends.
What the day includes
Protection down first at both properties: floors, door frames, bannisters. Furniture dismantled where it needs to be, with the fixings kept with the piece rather than in a communal bag. Everything blanketed and wrapped before it goes near a doorway. Loaded in an order that makes the unload sensible. Then carried in and placed, not stacked in the hall.
- Full pack, part pack, or you pack and we take the furniture
- Wardrobe cartons so hanging clothes travel on the hanger
- Beds, wardrobes and tables dismantled and rebuilt
- Pictures, mirrors, glass and TVs boxed rather than blanket-wrapped
- Boxes labelled by room
- Bay suspension applied for where the street allows one
- Storage when the chain slips and the dates stop lining up
Period houses, specifically
The housing around Brook Green and Ravenscourt Park is largely late-Victorian and Edwardian, and much of it retains original detail — panelled doors, tiled paths, cornicing, staircases with turned bannisters. None of it is difficult to work around. All of it is expensive to put right.
So we use more material here than on a modern estate, and we plan the route for the big pieces before lifting anything. Where a house has been extended or had a basement conversion, we check whether the furniture that went in before the work will still come out after it. Occasionally it will not, and it is far better to establish that at survey than with a wardrobe wedged on a half-landing.
Parking, which decides the shape of the day
Hammersmith and Fulham is permit-controlled throughout and enforcement is active. A removal vehicle with nowhere legal to sit is not a minor problem — it is the difference between a four-hour move and a seven-hour one.
We check the restrictions for your street and apply to the council for a suspension where bays exist. That has to happen in advance. On streets where nothing is suspendable we plan a shuttle and say so in the quote.
Timing around the gyratory
Worth stating because firms from outside W6 get caught by it. The Hammersmith gyratory and the A4 flyover make the middle of the day expensive in time. We build arrival and departure windows around that, which usually means an early start.
A flat rather than a house? Flats and mansion flats. Smaller load? Man and van. Across the bridge? Removals in Chiswick.
House move questions
Do you survey before quoting a house?
For a whole house, yes. Usually a video walk-round, which takes twenty minutes and stops the quote moving on the day. In the larger period houses we will often come in person, because cellars and lofts are where the volume hides.
Our staircase is original and we would rather it stayed that way.
So would we. Original W6 staircases have turned bannisters, narrow treads and at least one tight turn, and they mark easily. We board the treads, pad the bannister and protect the frames before anything is carried, and we plan the route for the big pieces first rather than working it out halfway up.
Can a lorry get down our street?
On most Brook Green and Ravenscourt Park streets, yes — with a suspension. Where the street is too narrow or nothing is suspendable we shuttle with a smaller vehicle from the nearest legal point. That costs time, which we price honestly rather than absorbing into a bad morning.
What about a house with a basement conversion?
Common here and worth flagging at survey. Basement stairs are usually narrower and steeper than the main flight, and a sofa that went down before the kitchen was fitted may not come back up the same way. We check it rather than assume.
Do you move out of London?
Regularly — Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and further. Same service with a longer drive, and the loading order planned around the unload at the far end rather than the load at this one.

Both addresses, the floor at each end, and roughly what is going. That is enough for a real figure.
